UPASI (The United Planters’ Association of Southern India) is an apex body of planters of tea, coffee, rubber, pepper and cardamom in the Southern States of India viz. Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka in existence since 1893. It is the premier representative body of buyers, sellers, processors, exporters, co-operatives and all other market intermediaries of tea coffee, rubber and spices. The Association’s operations cover economic research, market intelligence, industrial relations, liaison, public relations, scientific research and publication.
UPASI 118th Annual Conference was held on October 23 at Coonoor, which was addressed by Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mallikarjun Kharge & Member of Parliament Mrs. P Jaya Prada.
The main conference was preceded by a technical session which was held on October 22. The commodity outlook session was held on October 23 and the papers were presented by the Chairman of Tea, Rubber, Coffee and Spices Board. A customary UPASI Industrial Exhibition was held coinciding with the conference which has provided a perfect platform to exhibit the technological and scientific advancements in the plantation sector.
